Be a Safety Champion - Take the pledge!
Through education, collaboration, commitment, and innovation, we can work together to reduce severe and fatal crashes in Etowah County. By making our roads safer, helping all road users stay aware, and ensuring speeds fit their context, we can change our safety culture and prevent deaths and serious injuries on our transportation system.
As a Road Safety Champion, I pledge to:
-
Follow all Traffic Laws - Obey signals, signs, and rules of the road.
-
Respect All Road Users - this includes bicyclists, pedestrians, motorists, and transit riders.
-
Stay Sober and Alert - Never drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or fatigue, and encourage others to do the same.
-
Minimize Distractions - Avoid texting, eating, or using devices while driving, walking, or biking. Focus fully on the road and surroundings.
-
Promote a Positive Safety Culture - Model safe behaviors and encourage others to adopt them. Talk about road safety at home, work, and in your community.
-
Buckle Up for Safety - Always wear a seat belt every time you drive or ride (even in the back seat), and make sure all passengers are properly restrained. Ensure children are secured in the right car seat or booster seat for their age, height, and weight.
